Would you use an SMS Snow Report Service?
« on: May 01, 2003, 03:45:01 AM »
Im curious to see what everyone thinks, we have the possibility of offering an on demand snow report service that you can access and have live snow reports downloaded to your phone via sms for your favourite resort.

There are 2 ways this service may be offered, one is a basic sponsored service which has sms advertising attached and the other way is a premium service costing around 20 to 50cents per sms.

What are everyones thoughts on it?

I avoid mobile phones as much as possible.

I don't trust official snow reports anyhow. Usually just phone a friend on the hill. ;) and use the web cams.

Ah who said anything about official reports anyway???

We are also investigating W@P and 3G technology as well :), which will mean live snowcam images on your phone and more....

Hey I still haven't figured out how to program my video recorder yet, and my son tells me they are old tec and won't be around much longer.

And not to mention the problems I will have taking a phone call on a 3g phone and trying to convince the business associate I'm talking to, I'm in the office instead of on a chairlift when they can see people skiing past. :o
