early snow

Hi all, im new here after skimming around searching for a decent aussie snow site with forum.
Im located in Churchill, Vic (bout 45 from Mnt St Gwinear and 1 hr from Baw Baw) Its been powdering since April fools and i am SO EXCITED that its been difficult to actually go to work when all i wanna do is chain up n go!
Im finding it a bit of a letdown that the snow reports dont open until the official open season date despite the snow   but I have a heap of new gear to buy before i head up, so theres not much I can do until then anyway.
And who knows, it may just snow here again here this year. well.. heres to hoping hey!
Anyone have any theories on our mental weather these days? last season ran late with a georgeous drop and this season its early! what gives?
Also, im looking for some xc gear. boots n ski's for 5"7 female, size 7 1/2 boot size and weight bout 60kg's.

i come from Poland. i have been skiing for 6 years
do you ski or ride snowboard?
