Ive ridden quite a few different boards, mostly burtons, the demo's from rythem in cooma are what I go for, that way I can choose what I want depending on the conditions.
last year I got most love riding a longer board, 64,burton dragon. went very well where ever I stuck it. ;D

Ive got all my own gear but my board(Burton air) is a bit heavy and knocked about ;D
Ive also got a classic old WINTERSTICK that doesnt get ridden :o
So yes, I always hire a board and yes its great to always ride the latest model, and Im fine giving it back at the end of the day.
For $40 a day ,I dont thimk Ill aver buy a new one,,,,
unless it was at the right price ;D
